FAYETTE COUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE COVID-19 POLICY Fayette County Baseball League COVID-19 Policy DRAFT: June 15, 2020 The Fayette County Baseball League COVID-19 policy strictly adheres to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines as well as guidelines established by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Governor Tom Wolf’s office. According to the governor’s office, the Fayette County Baseball League (FCBL) is permitted to conduct in-person activities, including games and practices, when the counties in which participating teams operate, are designated as being in the Green phase and must strictly adhere to the requirements included below. To conduct games and practices, organizations and teams authorized to conduct in-person activities pursuant to this guidance must adhere to the following: ALL participating players MUST sign a release from liability form BEFORE they can participate in any game activities. (THIS ONLINE FORM IS YOUR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE)Coaches and league officials must review and consider the CDC guidance to modify practices and games to mitigate the risk of spreading the virus.The FCBL or team must designate a primary point of contact for all questions related to COVID-19, and all players, officials, and coaches must be provided the appropriate contact information. The FCBL and its teams must develop a plan of action in the event a player, coach, or official falls ill, make the plan available and explain it to its members.Players who are sick or showing symptoms must stay home. Managers should educate their players on proper hand washing and sanitizing at games or practices.Coaches and players must maintain appropriate social distancing at all times possible, including in the field of play, dugouts, benches, and workout areas. During down time, players and coaches should not congregate.All players, coaches, and officials must bring their own water and drinks to team activities. Team water coolers for sharing through disposable cups are not allowed. Fixed water fountains should not be used.Activities that increase the risk of exposure to saliva must not be allowed including chewing gum, spitting, licking fingers, and eating sunflower seeds.Avoid shaking hands, fist bumps, or high fives before, during or after games and practices. Limit unnecessary physical contact with teammates, other players, coaches, officials, and spectators.Whenever possible, equipment and other personal items should be separated and not shared. If equipment must be shared, all equipment should be properly disinfected between/among users.Concession stands or other food must adhere to the Guidance for Businesses in the Restaurant Industry, including the limiting of cash transactions to the extent possible; find alternative ways to charge admission and pay for concessions.The FCBL participating teams should create protocols to limit entrance and exit traffic, designating specific entry to and exits from facilities and establish protocols to prevent players from congregating before or after games. Guidance for Spectators Seating areas, including bleachers, must adhere to social distancing requirements of at least 6 feet of spacing for anyone not in the same household. To assist with proper social distancing, areas should be clearly marked. Adults are recommended to wear face coverings (masks or face shields) at all times.Spectators may NOT enter the field of play or bench areas.Nonessential visitors, spectators, and volunteers should be limited when possible.Coaches should assess levels of risk based on individual athletes on the team who may be at a higher risk for severe illness. Please note local political units and school districts may impose more stringent requirements than those contained in this guidance. Teams and organizations should contact their local political subdivision to discuss their plan to resume play and to notify them of their intention to resume play. WAIVER/RELEASE FOR COMMUNICABLE DISEASES INCLUDING COVID-19 ASSUMPTION OF RISK / WAIVER OF LIABILITY / INDEMNIFICATION AGREEMENT In consideration of being allowed to participate on behalf of (FAYETTE COUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE) athletic program and related events and activities, the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees that: 1. Participation includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases including but not limited to MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19. While particular rules and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness and death does exist; and, 2. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation; and, 3. I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation as regards protection against infectious diseases. If, however, I observe and any unusual or significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately; and, 4. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS (Fayette County Baseball League) their teams, players, league officers, officials, agents, and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event (“RELEASEES”), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL ILLNESS, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
